On granite bed and sea foam pillow, I let this dream take me
A seagull cries and the sirens sigh, fishing lines wiz by me
Gale winds kiss my sunburned lips, the massive beast is thrashing
Crash and splash as sailboats pass, the rough-cut shore is calling
Goosebumps rise to the salty bite, but still I let it have me
The liquid licks like needle pricks, my numbing toes delight me
Motors blow, a fog horn groans, greenheads all a-buzzing
While snails rule the tidal pool, osprey perch a-gazing
When summer glows into fall’s first days, smoldering bliss for me.
And when the frozen white sheet entombs, I let this dream take me.
