Fractured Rainbow

Childhood is a rainbow

A sacred, simple delight

Containing all of life’s ingredients

In distinct lanes

With minimal blurring

Red Rage

Orange Heat

Yellow Joy

Green Desire

Blue Despair

Purple Pleasure

Time fractures the majestic monument

Into a mosaic

Of tastes and fervors

Jagged fragments now cut up every day

In multiple shades

Of splendid confusion

In yearning for

The elementary fabric of infancy

I realize the kaleidoscope that remains

Is also beautiful
